“”Future Union” and “Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie” Sign Strategic Partnership to Develop Railway Projects under BOT System

June 24, 2026

Future Union, a leading international investment group specializing in infrastructure, and Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie (GCF), the Italian railway construction company, announced today the signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. The partnership aims to establish a long-term alliance to develop, finance, construct, and operate major railway projects around the world under the BOT (Build – Operate – Transfer) system.

This powerful alliance brings together Future Union’s immense financing and project development capabilities with GCF’s engineering and technical expertise, which spans over 60 years in the railway infrastructure sector. Future Union is headquartered in Qatar and maintains an extensive network of branches and partners across Africa, while GCF is distinguished by its high-level expertise in track superstructure, electrification, metro, tram, and signaling systems.

Under the agreement, both parties will focus on executing projects in the following promising markets:

· Tanzania: Both parties will contribute to the development of the “Standard Gauge Railway Project” (SGGR). Future Union has previously expressed interest in investing in Tanzania’s mining, energy, and agricultural sectors, which supports infrastructure projects.
· Syria: The parties will activate the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Future Union Syria and the Syrian General Establishment of Railways, which aims to develop and operate railway lines, study the construction of new lines, and supply modern trains. It is worth noting that Syria requires an estimated investment of $5.5 billion to rehabilitate and modernize its railway network.
· Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Investment and construction opportunities in railway projects within the Kingdom will be explored.
· Silk Road Project: The partnership’s work will fall within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Future Union Syria and the Syrian Railway Establishment regarding the “Silk Road” project to reconnect the region with international transport networks.
